Law Firms Buy Trendy Coffee Makers in Hopes of Averting Starbucks Runs
Lawyers involved in the recent $250 million merger of chip developers NetLogic and RMI couldn’t stop gushing about two ingredients that helped late-night sessions go smoothly: Bingham’s high-end gourmet coffee and big bowls of M&Ms.
Lawyers were singing the praises of the firm’s Keurig B3000 coffeemaker that dispenses single cups of coffee within 45 seconds, Legal Pad reports. Dave Manly, Keurig’s vice president of marketing, told the blog that law firms are the company’s best customers. Ropes & Gray, for example, has more than 40 machines.
“It keeps people from going out to Starbucks and other coffee shops,” he said. “It keeps them productive in the office.”
The coffeemaker allows lawyers to choose among coffee flavors and types. Some are more popular than others. “I would say, in the law firm profession, we sell very little decaf,” Keurig told Legal Pad.
