A San Antonio lawyer has been convicted of five counts of theft for extorting money from married men who had sex with her.

Mary Roberts could be sentenced to up to 20 years in prison at her sentencing in February, the San Antonio Express-News reports. Roberts and her husband, Ted, were charged with sending legal documents to the men that spurred them to pay $155,000 in hush money. Ted Roberts was also a lawyer, but he has had his license suspended.

Roberts testified in her own defense, saying she had the affairs because her husband was neglecting her, and that the legal papers sent to the men were her husband’s idea.

Roberts’ attorney, Alan Brown, said the jury was prejudiced by pretrial publicity, KSAT.Com reports. He said she was only guilty of cheating on her husband.

Ted Roberts was convicted in an earlier trial and sentenced to five years in prison.
