Police have arrested the husband of a lawyer shot eight times outside her apartment building in Sandy Springs, Ga., last month and accused him of the crime.

The lawyer, Adina Parson, remains in critical condition and has been unable to talk to investigators, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. Police in Texas arrested her husband, Michael Parson, during a traffic stop Saturday night.

Michael Parson visited his wife in the hospital after the shooting and police initially said he was not a suspect. He is accused of aggravated assault, aggravated battery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and giving false statements in writing, the story says.

Adina Parson worked for the state Department of Public Health.
