The legal industry gained 2,900 jobs in November, according to new seasonally adjusted figures from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Total jobs in the legal services sector stood at 1,151,900, an increase of 11,000 jobs since the same time a year ago, according to the jobs report. Law360 and the American Lawyer have stories.

The number of jobs stands at a 10-year high, according to Law360. The monthly increase is the highest since August, when the legal industry added 4,100 jobs.

Michelle Fivel, a partner with legal recruiting firm Major Lindsey & Africa, told Law 360 that firms are especially interested in recruiting in the areas of finance, capital markets, and mergers and acquisitions.

The hiring enthusiasm is apparently spurred by an increase in deals and transactions, she said.

She also said hiring is not confined to large law firms.
