Think legal professionals are unhappy? Think again.

A new analysis by the job site CareerBliss.com has determined that lawyers and employees in legal jobs are the tenth happiest workers, according to the Forbes magazine blog Girl Friday and a CareerBliss press release.

The legal profession was rated less happy than jobs in lower paying fields such as customer service. The happiest workers were in these careers:

1) Biotechnology

2) Customer service

3) Education

4) Administrative and clerical

5) Purchasing and procurement

The study found that the top three factors for workplace happiness depend on the specific tasks done on a day-to-day basis, the degree of control over daily tasks, and relationships with co-workers.

To conduct the study, CareerBliss analyzed 200,000 independent employee reviews from 70,000 jobs to collect data on nine factors of workplace happiness: employees’ relationship with their boss and co-workers, their work environment, job resources, compensation, growth opportunities, company culture, company reputation, daily tasks and job control. The results were used to find an average rating of overall employee happiness for each job type.
