A retired lawyer for the state of Wisconsin got a response from someone experienced in explosives when he placed an ad on Craigslist last year, but it wasn’t the person he was seeking.

Jansson Wheeler, 76, advertised for a technician who could build a bomb to kill his wife’s lover, the Wisconsin State Journal reports. Instead he got an answer from an agent with the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Wheeler pleaded no contest on Thursday to attempted first-degree intentional homicide, the story says. Wheeler was a Madison alderman from 1968 to 1970 and had worked as legal counsel for the state corrections department. He is free on a signature bond and lives in an independent living facility.
