A friend of a defendant being sentenced for his role in a Michigan gas station armed robbery had come to court expecting to see his 18-year-old buddy, Terrez Rashad Ivy, get time today.

But Gemichael Malangy Gardner, 19, wound up in the slammer, too, after losing his cool as the 23-year-old victim talked about how traumatized she had been by the crime, even though she was not physically injured, reports the Grand Rapids Press.

Stopping the victim in mid-statement, when Gardner stormed out of the courtroom saying “bullshit” and slamming the door as she said she had attempted suicide, Kent County Circuit Court Judge James Robert Redford sent deputies out to get Gardner. Although the teen said he was sorry, the judge sentenced him to 30 days for contempt of court after finding out he was on probation in another case being overseen by the court.

Gardner could also potentially face additional time if he is found to have violated his probation.

He shook his head, but apparently said nothing further as he was led off to begin serving his sentence.
