The administrator for Franklin County, Ohio, has promised to investigate concerns about a glass staircase in a new courthouse, but he says the issue may be overblown because the stairs aren’t really pure glass.

Last week, Judge Julie Lynch raised concerns that the glass staircases were perilous for women who wear dresses, especially since sex offenders are sentenced at the courthouse. But Franklin County Administrator Don Brown says the stairs aren’t transparent, WBNS-10TV reports.

“There’s an illusion on the stairs of transparency but the steps themselves are solid concrete,” Brown told the broadcast station. Commissioners, however, are listening to complaints and are considering whether to make changes.
