WilmerHale partner Ronald Machen is a leading candidate for U.S. Attorney in Washington, D.C., according to a published report.

The congresswoman representing the District of Columbia, Eleanor Holmes Norton, chose Machen as her top choice when she submitted a list of three candidates to President Obama, the Washington Post reports. The newspaper report relied on anonymous sources.

The WilmerHale website says Machen devotes most of his practice to complex civil litigation, white-collar criminal defense and internal corporate investigations. A graduate of Harvard Law School, he was an assistant U.S. attorney in Washington, D.C., from 1997 to 2001.

The other candidates are Anjali Chaturvedi and Michael Bromwich, the Post says.
