Heller Ehrman recently suffered twin blows when Mayer Brown called off merger talks with the firm and a legal publication reported that up to 40 of its intellectual property lawyers planned to leave. Some legal observers have suggested Heller’s decision to stop seeking a merger partner could be a sign of the law firm’s dissolution.

Now worried employees have a place to vent on a blog with a catchy name: Heller Highwater, Legal Pad reports. The employee blog, which describes itself as “a support site for the professional support staff of a global law firm in turmoil,” is not sanctioned by the law firm. The blogger maintaining the site is identified only as “Heller Drone.”

Recent posts dealt with ways to save money now in case of future layoffs, including eliminating 401(k) contributions and adjusting tax forms. It also offers job and unemployment resources and “instructive comparisons to the Bay Area’s last great law firm meltdown, the infamous Brobeck disaster,” according to the Legal Pad story.
