The TaxProf Blog, which provided news on legal education, scholarship and commentary for more than 800,000 deans, professors, lawyers and other visitors annually for more than 20 years, will have a second life.

As of Thursday, the Association of American Law Schools will host the blog founded in 2004 by Paul L. Caron, the dean of the Pepperdine University Rick J. Caruso School of Law, at TaxProfBlog.aals.org.

The TaxProf Blog shut down Sept. 30 as its web host Typepad ceased operations.

“I could not be more excited about partnering with AALS to keep TaxProf Blog going,” said Caron in an Oct. 23 press release. “This collaboration will guarantee the blog’s continued growth and accessibility, serving as a vital source of information for legal educators, scholars and practitioners.”

The move comes after Caron’s Sept. 8 post stating, “At this stage in my life, I am not interested in starting anew on a different platform. I hope to find another home for the massive content of my 55,780 TaxProf Blog posts.”

The AALS will now maintain the blog’s archives, along with hosting new content in a similar style to the posts on the now-shuttered site from Caron and a team of editors, according to the press release.

“We are honored to bring it back and build on its legacy,” said Kellye Y. Testy, the executive director and CEO of the AALS, in the press release. “This addition reflects our commitment to creating resources for legal educators and helping build communities of scholars.”

She added that the AALS plans to create similar resources in other areas.

The TaxProf Blog was named to ABA Journal’s Blawg 100 Hall of Fame.
