Nominations for 2025-2026 term announced by ABA Legal Ed Section
The ABA Section of Legal Education and Admissions to the Bar has announced its nominations for the 2025-2026 council leadership positions.
Daniel Thies is slated to serve as the next council chair, according to a web announcement from the section’s nominating committee.
Previously vice-chair and chair-elect of the council, Thies is a shareholder at Webber & Thies. He has also served as chair of the council’s Standards Committee and first served the council as a law student.
He replaces David Brennen, a professor and a former dean at the University of Kentucky J. David Rosenberg College of Law.
In addition, Melissa Hart, justice on the Colorado Supreme Court, is slated as chair-elect. Carla Pratt, currently chair of the Standards Committee and a professor at the University of Oklahoma College of Law, is slated for vice chair. Both are one-year terms.
The slate for new members at large include Renee Knake Jefferson, law professor at University of Houston Law Center, to a two-year term, and Meagan Aileen Flynn, chief justices of the Oregon Supreme Court, and Diedre A. Keller, professor at Stetson Law, each to three-year terms.
Uniqua S. Smith, a rising 3L at Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University, is slated as law student division member, a one-year term.
The slate will be presented during the 2025 ABA Annual Meeting on Aug. 9 in Toronto, according to the web announcement.
