A film finance group co-founded by Boies, Schiller & Flexner partner David Boies is financing a movie based on the Cops TV show.

The Boies/Schiller Film Group was founded by Boies and Zack Schiller, the son of Boies Schiller co-founder Jonathan Schiller, Law.com (sub. req.) reports. Zack Schiller tells the publication that the Cops film will be a poignant comedy filmed in the reality TV style of Cops.

The film will “have something to say about what’s going on today” amid the public debates about policing, Schiller said.

The film group isn’t linked financially to the law firm, but Zack Schiller told the American Lawyer last year there is a benefit to the Boies Schiller branding. “People understand that while I’m a small operation, if people don’t abide by the fee documentation and the spirit of the deals, there’s a caged gorilla in the back of the office,” he said.

The Boies/Schiller Film Group has also funded a Western starring Natalie Portman called Jane Got a Gun and a 2013 action movie, Escape Plan, starring Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
