Pop singer Britney Spears has at least temporarily lost custody of her two small sons. Starting Wednesday at noon, her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, will have custody “until further order of the court,” according to Superior Court Judge Scott Gordon.

It is not clear why the judge made the ruling, reports CNN, and a transcript of a hearing today was ordered sealed. However, Gordon last month ordered Spears, who is 25, to have random drug tests because of her “habitual, frequent, and continuous use of controlled substances and alcohol.”

Another hearing is scheduled for Wednesday in the custody case, according to People magazine.

Meanwhile, the diva has a new lawyer, J. Michael Flanagan, who will defend her in a criminal hit and run case. He confirms that she has no California driver’s license, reports the Access Hollywood blog. “Britney is eligible for a license, she does not have one at this time,” says Flanagan. “Once she applies for one, I think the matter will be resolved and resolved quickly.”
