Ex-ABA President Announces He Won’t Run for Mich. Governor
Former ABA President and Detroit Mayor Dennis Archer says he won’t run for Michigan governor because he would have to give up family time and law, two things he loves.
Archer, now the chairman of Dickinson Wright, had said he was considering a run for governor. But today at a news conference, he said a run for office involved too many personal sacrifices, report the Detroit News and the Associated Press. His wife, Trudy, looked on as he spoke.
“I’m not prepared to make that personal sacrifice,” Archer said. “I know how much time it takes.”
A former Michigan Supreme Court justice, Archer also said he does not think he will be nominated to the U.S. Supreme Court or receive another appointment in the Obama administration, the Detroit News story says.
