A Florida lawyer accused of conspiracy to commit murder related to a child custody dispute was arrested on a California warrant and appeared before a Seminole County, Florida, judge Tuesday.
Francisco Gonzalez, a civil trial lawyer, waived extradition and awaits transfer to California to face charges of allegedly offering $10,000 to have Jack Avery killed.
Avery, a singer in a boy band called Why Don’t We, has a child with the attorney’s daughter, Gabriela Gonzalez, a popular social media influencer who had a history of visitation and custody disputes with Avery, according to coverage by WESH and NBC News.
Court records allege that the Gonzalez family wanted full custody of the couple’s child. According to one witness, Gabriela Gonzalez allegedly said she wanted Avery dead and discussed hiring a hit man.
The California warrant also cited other witness statements, bank records, private investigator activity and other evidence tying Francisco Gonzalez to the alleged murder-for-hire plot. Gabriela Gonzalez was arrested in California.
