Two Florida lawyers were part of a puzzle-solving team that broke the world record by unlocking 41 escape rooms in a 24-hour period, securing a spot in the Guinness World Record for the United States.
Raychel Garcia, a shareholder at Marshall Dennehey, and Richard Corbett, a corporate attorney, joined forces with two engineers and a math teacher to form a team called the Florida Keys.
The challenge happened from Feb. 5 to 6 during a time period of 23 hours and six minutes and across multiple escape room venues along the International Drive tourist corridor in Orlando, Florida. They now have the record for the “most escape rooms attended in 24 hours” according to March 11 story on the Guinness World Record’s website.
The Florida Keys beat the previous record—32 rooms set by Tokyo in 2020—by applying logic, math and mechanical problem-solving skills.
According to coverage on the Central Florida Lifestyle Magazine, the team released this statement: “We’re a group of American escape room enthusiasts who wanted to showcase the strength of the escape room community here. This was about proving that with preparation, teamwork and endurance, something that ambitious could be done.”
