Law school applications are again reaching record high numbers, with applications for fall 2026 up 10.8% over last year and 35.5% over two years ago, according to the latest statistics from the Law School Admission Council.
The number of applicants increased 7.9% over last year and 27.4% over two years ago.
Regionally, the number of applicants in the Mountain West increased 12% over last year, followed by the Great Lakes and the Northwest—each up 9.6%—and the Midwest up 9.5%, according to data from the LSAC.
The regions experiencing the largest increase in applications over last year are New England—up 14.3%—followed by the Northeast—up 13.1%—and the Midwest up 13%, according to data from the LSAC.
The number of Law School Admission Test examinees increased 13.3% over last year, with first-time test-takers up 7.2%.
