May was a down month for the legal job market, and it turns out April wasn’t a good month either.

The legal industry lost 1,000 jobs in May, the Am Law Daily reports, citing figures from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The BLS originally reported that April was a good month, with the legal market adding 1,500 jobs. But revised figures now show a loss of 700 jobs for the month.

Overall, the legal industry had 1,110,400 jobs in May compared to 1,113,100 jobs at the same time last year, a loss of 2,700 positions in the past year.
