Lawyer faces criminal charges in deadly crash with motorcyclist

A prominent Michigan attorney is facing charges after allegedly driving away from a deadly crash outside Detroit.
Lawyer Edward Nahhat, 64, of Royal Oak, Michigan, faces charges of leaving the scene of an accident and lying to a police officer during the investigation, according to the Royal Oak Review and an Aug. 27 news release from the Macomb County, Michigan, prosecutor’s office.
Police said Julie Fathbruckner, 48, of Roseville, Michigan, was riding her Harley-Davidson motorcycle when Nahhat allegedly struck her from behind with his pickup truck and failed to stop. Investigators tracked down Nahhat a short time later at his home with the help of Flock cameras.
Nahhat is an attorney with the Kemp Klein Law Firm in Troy, Michigan, which he joined in 2013 as a member of the law firm’s trusts and estates litigation practice group.
According to the firm’s website, Nahhat has more than 30 years of experience as a trial and appellate lawyer, with practice areas spanning probate, criminal law, personal injury, real estate and entertainment law.
