President Obama has acknowledged in an interview that the Guantanamo Bay detention facility won’t close by a January deadline.

Obama told Fox News that closing Guantanamo was “just technically hard,” the Washington Post reports. He says he’s not disappointed that he will miss the deadline he set after becoming president, and the prison will eventually close.

Obama didn’t set a new deadline, however.

“We are on a path and a process where I would anticipate that Guantanamo will be closed next year,” Obama said. “I’m not going to set an exact date because a lot of this is also going to depend on cooperation from Congress.”
