When LeBoeuf Lamb Greene & MacRae combined with Dewey Ballantine, the newly merged firm had two offices in Beijing.

Now the firm of Reed Smith “is essentially acquiring the Dewey Ballantine side of the practice,” the Legal Intelligencer reports. Among the Beijing lawyers moving to Reed Smith are corporate partner Hugh Scogin Jr. and partner Sharon Mann, a former senior director of the Trade Facilitation Office at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing.

Reed Smith already had a license to practice in Beijing because of its January merger with Richards Butler Hong Kong, the story says.

Reed Smith was recently in the news for acquiring 55 lawyers from Anderson Kill & Olick after merger talks between the two firms broke down.
