The American Bar Association on Monday announced the creation of an online pipeline program with an Indiana law school to help undergraduates develop key skills necessary for legal education, including critical thinking, test preparation strategies and reading comprehension.

The “Pathway to the Law” program, funded with a $250,000 ABA grant and targeted toward people from underrepresented groups in the legal profession, is offered by the organization’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion and Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law. The program is scheduled to begin next spring with an initial class of 50 students, according to an ABA press release.

Participants will also receive financial assistance for LSAT test preparation, help in preparing law school applications and opportunities to partner with a mentor, according to the IU website. The program will offer four courses worth 10 credits as part of participants’ undergraduate degree program.

Law school staff will design and teach the courses. Interested students can apply here.
