A 14-year-old Texas youth has been charged with murder in Houston after an egg-throwing incident on Tuesday led to a fatal car crash, according to the Harris County sheriff’s office.

The 14-year-old boy was driving a GMC Acadia while he and his two passengers were reportedly throwing eggs at other vehicles, according to a tweet by the sheriff. A man in a Lincoln who allegedly displayed a semiautomatic handgun gave chase, according to a Harris County sheriff’s office press release.

The teen ran a red light and struck a Ford F-150. The driver, 45-year-old Silvia Zavala, was killed. The teen driver suffered a broken ankle. The New York Times, the Houston Chronicle, NBC News and BuzzFeed News have coverage. The Houston Chronicle obtained a video of the crash.

The teen was charged with murder because he was committing a felony—unauthorized use of a vehicle—which caused the crash, a sheriff’s spokesperson told the Houston Chronicle.

The driver of the Lincoln has been located and is cooperating with police. He could face a felony charge for failing to stop and give aid to the woman, according to Sean Teare, who leads the vehicular crimes unit in the Harris County District Attorney’s office. “I believe enough evidence exists to present that to a grand jury,” Tear told the Houston Chronicle.
