Two law students die in suspected murder-suicide
Two Tulane University law students were found fatally shot Sunday morning in what police believe was a murder-suicide.
Police believe 28-year-old Wajih Mazloum shot his 25-year-old girlfriend, Sara LaMont, before killing himself, report the New Orleans Advocate, the New Orleans Times-Picayune and WWL. Both were second-year law students, university president Mike Fitts said in a statement.
“We are in contact with the families and closest friends of these two young people and are offering them every possible assistance and support,” Fitts said.
A roommate found the bodies. A neighbor identified as a recent law grad told the Advocate that Mazloum was very friendly and they often talked about law school. “It just doesn’t seem real,” the law grad said.
