A plaintiffs personal injury practice isn’t what it used to be, at least in Las Vegas.

Plaintiffs lawyers in the city tell the Las Vegas Business Press that insurers are dragging their feet on settlements and offering less money.

Personal injury lawyer Ed Bernstein says a typical claim used to take a year to resolve, but now the time period has doubled. In response, his firm has hired more experienced litigators, filed more lawsuits and taken more cases to court.

“We are working a lot harder for less,” he told the publication.

Insurance representatives said there may be a reason for the push back. Nevada has the highest number of auto accident victims with attorney representation in the nation. About 40 percent of all Nevada car accidents involve personal injury claims, compared to about 25 percent nationwide.
