Following the lead of colleagues in two other European offices, the entire seven-lawyer Geneva contingent of Hogan & Hartson is exiting prior to the firm’s planned May 1 merger with Lovells.

They will join Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, establishing a third European office for their firm, which already has planted its flag in London and Moscow, reports Legal Week.

“The opportunity presented by Akin Gump was exceptionally attractive and so we decided it was a better option for us,” says Charles Adams, the current managing partner of the Geneva office, who will continue in that role. While exiting Hogan & Hartson, the seven attorneys will stay in their current offices and plan further expansion, he notes.

Warren Gorrell, who chairs Hogan & Hartson, wished the departing lawyers well, the Legal Week article continues. He said their move will not adversely affect the plans or prospects of Hogan Lovells, about which those involved “remain excited and bullish.”

A Blog of Legal Times post provides additional details about the expected benefits of the new Geneva office for Akin Gump.
