Suspended without pay from her job as a secretary in the Delaware County, Penn., district attorney’s office in Chester, Vera Ellen Carroll doesn’t appear likely to be returning to work there.

The 59-year-old pleaded guilty yesterday to two counts of perjury for lying to a Montgomery County grand jury about leaking information concerning two 2009 robbery cases in which her grandson was targeted as a suspect, reports the Delaware County Daily Times.

She was also accused or trying to influence a robbery victim and a probation officer in her grandson’s favor, but charges related to these alleged incidents have reportedly been dropped.

When she is sentenced, she could face as much as seven to 14 years in prison.

Senior Deputy Attorney General John Flannery Jr. is handling the case against Carroll for the state attorney general’s office. He said her conduct “is outrageous and cannot be tolerated,” the newspaper reports.

The article doesn’t include any comment from Carroll or her counsel.

She worked for Assistant District Attorney Albert Amoroso.
