Four intellectual property partners, headed by the former managing partner of Bracewell & Giuliani’s office in Austin, Texas, have exited for Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman.

Five Bracewell associates and a senior counsel are expected to join them there soon, the Austin Business Journal reports.

Pillsbury established its Austin office last year.

“This is a world-class IP team. Bringing on talent like this demonstrates Pillsbury’s deepening commitment to our technology practice, our technology clients and to growing in the Texas market,” said Pillsbury chairman Jim Rishwain in a law firm press release.

Further growth in the Austin IP practice group is anticipated, he noted, adding: “This is just one of many dynamic and bold steps Pillsbury will be taking in Texas.”

Bracewell did not immediately respond to the business publication’s request for comment.
