After attending every day of his manslaughter trial in the 2009 stabbing death of an Arizona State University student, a Tempe lawyer was missing in action when he was found guilty last week.

Daniel Gukeisen, 39, is being sought on a bench warrant, reports the Arizona Republic.

Although Gukeisen could potentially have been sentenced to probation in the Maricopa County Superior Court case, County Attorney Bill Montgomery says he now intends to seek an enhanced sentence.

Attorney Larry Debus represents Gukeisen. He says his client fled because he feared for his life, the newspaper reports.
