This week, Thomson Reuters announced it had purchased the consumer-oriented Super Lawyers attorney rating system.

That move—along with the ABA Journal’s story this month about law firms being wary of client ratings from Avvo and ACC’s Value Index—had us wondering what you make of all this.

So tell us …

Do lawyer ratings matter to you? To your clients? For marketing and business development purposes?

Posted by Diana: “I was nearing graduation from business school and had always thought about law school. But I decided I’d go out in the world and get a ‘real job’ and then see if I was still interested. I was coerced by a friend to buy a raffle ticket promoted by a school organization without knowing the prize. Turns out the prize was an LSAT prep class … which I won (for a mere $1 investment). I figured the gods were smiling on me and pointing the way. I took the LSAT and went to law school.”
