U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson attended the Grammy Awards on Sunday, where she received a nomination for her 2024 memoir and an acknowledgement from the show’s host.
A nominee for best audiobook, Lovely One tells how Jackson overcame systemic barriers, race and gender issues to graduate from Harvard College and Harvard Law School and become the first Black female justice on the Supreme Court, according to coverage by USA Today.
She was nominated by then-President Joe Biden and confirmed in 2022.
Jackson did not win the Grammy—it went to the Dalai Lama. During the evening, however, she rubbed elbows with entertainment superstars, and Grammy host and comedian Trevor Noah gave her a shout-out.
“With her being here, you know what that means. For the first time ever, if you lose a Grammy, you can appeal directly to the Supreme Court,” Noah said.
