Reality television temptress Kim Kardashian filed a federal district court lawsuit against Old Navy and the clothing retailer’s parent company yesterday, contending that the store infringed on her right of publicity by using a lookalike model in its advertising.

Filed yesterday in the Central District of California, the suit, which is linked to a New York Daily News story, seeks an injunction to prevent the store from continuing to run such ads as well as compensatory and punitive damages and attorney’s fees.

Actress Melissa Molinaro, who appears in the ads, reportedly is also dating Kardashian’s real-life ex-boyfriend Reggie Bush.

“Kim Kardashian is immediately recognizable and is known for her look and style. Her identity and persona are valuable,” says attorney Gary Hecker, who filed the suit for her. “When her intellectual property rights are violated, she intends to enforce them.”

The article doesn’t include any comment from Old Navy or its parent company, the Gap Inc.
