Milbank has hired the co-chair of White & Case’s global project development and finance practice to help lead its new location in Chicago.
Scott Edelman, the law firm’s chair, told Law.com that a firm has to be full service, “but not every office has to be. The goal here is to explore the Chicago market and look for extraordinary lawyers who will fit with us culturally and have the substantive excellence we require.”
Milbank, the latest firm to open in Chicago, is exploring additional hires—in addition to Nadav Klugman of White & Case, who is Milbank’s first partner hire in Chicago.
Several other firms have recently made moves into the city. Simpson Thacher & Bartlett has announced plans this month to open there, following Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld and A&O Shearman, which have opened in recent years, and Dechert’s move back earlier this year.
