A Connecticut judge yesterday ended the 26-year marriage of CBS sportscaster Jim Nantz and awarded his ex-wife $72,000 a month in alimony and another $4,000 in child support.

Bridgeport Superior Court Howard Owens concluded that neither spouse was at fault in the divorce, even though the 50-year-old Nantz, whom the judge described as “our nation’s most prominent sportscaster,” acknowledged that he began dating a 29-year-old woman before the marriage dissolution was finalized, reports the Associated Press.

Nantz and his ex, Ann-Lorraine “Lorrie” Carlsen Nantz, will share custody of their 15-year-old daughter. The judge gave each Nantz two of the couple’s four homes and split assets between the two of them, the news agency recounts. Nantz must also pay college tuition for his daughter until she is 23.

Court documents say Nantz earns $3.2 million a year from CBS.

Attorney Cynthia George of Greenwich, Conn., represented Lorrie Nantz and said only that she and her client are pleased with the judge’s ruling.

Jim Nantz was represented by Gaetano Ferro of New Canaan. He says his client will not appeal the ruling and only wants what’s best for his daughter, the AP reports.

“He always wanted a peaceful resolution of an unfortunate situation,” says Ferro. “He never wanted a trial, never wanted it to come out this way, never wanted a public spectacle. He wants to put it behind him.”
