Recommind and Hire Counsel are teaming up to offer a fixed-price document review model for electronic discovery.

In a joint Wednesday press release (PDF), the two companies and partners announced they would offer first-pass review of electronic documents at a set price. According to the release, Hire Counsel combined project management, continuous machine learning and relevancy predictions created by Recommind’s Axcelerate software to come up with its fixed-price model. After implementing it in its Detroit office, Hire Counsel will now make it available to the public—as well as utilize it throughout its nationwide review centers.

“Hire Counsel’s expert project management and review resources have enabled them to complete fixed-price Axcelerate document review projects with great success,” said Ellery Dyer, Recommind’s vice president of channel development, in the press release. “Budget clarity and locked-in savings are compelling benefits of Hire Counsel‘s approach.”

Recommind and Hire Counsel also released a case study touting the results of a first-pass review conducted using the new fixed-price model. According to the two companies, they were able to go through a corpus containing 800,000 documents at fixed cost that was 65 percent lower than what the client had been expecting.

“In partnership with Recommind, we can empower corporate clients to dependably budget for eDiscovery costs,” Kevin Clark, executive managing director of discovery services for Hire Counsel, said in the release.
