The chief operating officer of the Redskins is returning to practice at his former law firm, leading observers to wonder if the team will now maintain a lower litigation profile under new leadership, reports the Pro Football Talk page of NBC Sports.

Dave Donovan’s six-year tenure has included suits against season ticket holders and the City Paper, the article notes.

Donovan says he is returning to WilmerHale for personal reasons, where he formerly served as outside counsel to Redskins owner Daniel Snyder, reports the Insider column of the Washington Post.

After 20 years at the law firm, “this was a great opportunity and an exciting job, but I never thought I would be here the rest of my career,” Donovan told the newspaper today. “I’m excited to go back to the firm.”
