It isn’t only concerning major corporate matters that Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom is a powerhouse litigator.

The firm won a contempt ruling this week on behalf of name partner Joseph Flom.

He sought attorney’s fees after Andrew Stein, who formerly served as president of the New York City Council, failed to appear at a deposition concerning a $30,585 no-interest personal loan that allegedly has not been repaid, recounts New York Law Journal in an article reprinted in New York Lawyer (reg. req.).

Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Eileen Rakower awarded $270 in fees and asked a special referee to determine the reasonable attorney’s fees due to Flom in the contempt case.

A lawyer for Stein and a spokeswoman for Skadden declined the legal publication’s requests for comment.
