A California legal publication is reporting that two more judges on the so-called U.S. Supreme Court short list—Sonia Sotomayor and Carlos Moreno—are in contact with the administration as part of its vetting process.

A Washington lobbyist told the Daily Journal (sub. req.) that Sotomayor, a judge on the New York City-based 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, is rumored to be meeting with President Obama at Camp David this weekend.

Justice Carlos Moreno of the California Supreme Court was contacted this week by a lawyer screening the nominees, sources told the publication. The story notes that Obama will stop in Los Angeles next week as part of a West Coast tour. The story calls the 60-year-old Moreno a “long-shot contender.” Most observers expect Obama to appoint a woman and someone who is younger.
