Things are cookin’ good for lawyer selected to compete on Food Network show

A New York lawyer who honed her kitchen skills and wrote a popular cookbook during the COVID-19 pandemic was selected to compete on a TV show on the Food Network.
Danielle Caminiti, a per diem and of counsel attorney based in Bay Ridge, New York, caught the attention of a casting director for 100 Cooks after her cookbook generated buzz on social media, the Staten Island Advance reports.
Caminiti, who went to Fordham Law School, runs Have U Covered, a legal coverage agency serving courts across New York. During a pause in courtroom activity because of the COVID-19 pandemic, she authored, From Courtroom to Cucina, according to the Staten Island Advance.
“A casting agent found me—it really just fell into my lap,” Caminiti, who specializes in Italian American cooking, said in an interview with the Staten Island Advance.
The TV series, which pits amateur cooks against one another for a chance to win up to $250,000, airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on the Food Network, with episodes available to stream on HBO Max the following day through its July 19 finale.
