A Las Vegas trial lawyer known for his TV slogan, “Enough said, call Ed,” has rolled out TV ads with a text number that can be used to contact his firm after an accident.

Lawyer Ed Bernstein has spent $50,000 in the past year in his texting initiative, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports. Berstein had to sign agreements with every cell carrier for his new dedicated texting number—24-00-00—and he has to pay monthly fees for the service.

Bernstein believes texting is a good way to reach potential clients who are under the age of 40. After all, he told the Review-Journal, his three daughters are age 21 or younger, and it sometimes seems as if the only way to reach them is by text message.

Consumers who text Bernstein will get an automatic response with five options, the story says. They include tips on what to do in an accident, a chance to schedule an appointment, and an opportunity to get a phone call from a lawyer.

Marketing expert Larry Bodine, a former editor and publisher of the ABA Journal, told the Review-Journal that he hasn’t seen any other law firm try texting. Bernstein is “tapping into how the Net generation communicates,” Bodine said. “And it’s interesting: Those [the younger demographic] are the people who get into the most accidents.”

Bernstein says the text messaging service is so new, he doesn’t know if it will pay off. Some messages are from consumers who want to see if the text number really works or if Bernstein himself will call, according to the newspaper. Others have written to tell Bernstein he looks cute in his billboard ads, and his daughters have even written to ask what’s for dinner.

“We expect it to be really successful, and to continue to grow as more people get sucked into texting,” Bernstein told the Review-Journal.
