Getting laid off from a general-practice position redirected attorney Sy Nazif into what turned out to be a dream job.

Although he keeps a suit in his Southern California law office, he’s likely to walk in wearing a leather biker jacket. And standard work hours don’t begin much before noon for the seven attorneys working at the Canoga Park law offices of Richard M. Lester, reports the Los Angeles Times.

That’s because Nazif and his colleagues represent fellow bikers in road-related matters. While motorcyclists are a growing and increasingly gentrified clientele, many still tend to start the day later than their white-collar counterparts, the newspaper notes.

“I’ve been a bike rider since I was a pup,” says the 34-year-old attorney. “I never realized I could combine the two things I love and do it for a living.”

Biker barristers can better relate to the problems suffered by their clients, so the firm advertises on its website that it has lawyers in every state who ride. Nazif, for instance, still has a shoulder problem from an accident while he was in law school. And getting compensation for his medical bills was a major battle, he says. “I had to fight the insurance company tooth and nail.”
