A well-known Florida personal injury lawyer was shot and killed Wednesday by his oldest son, who also shot the lawyer’s girlfriend before killing himself, according to a family friend.

The lawyer, Robert Fenstersheib, was killed in his Hollywood, Florida, home, report the South Florida Sun Sentinel, the Miami Herald, Local 10, WSVN and the Associated Press. The lawyer’s girlfriend, Pan Hong, was shot and wounded. She was hospitalized in serious but stable condition following surgery. The stories relied on information from family spokesperson Scott Mager.

Fenstersheib was known for his “Tell Robert” television commercials. His law firm is based in Hallandale Beach.

Mager said Fenstersheib was killed by his 35-year-old son, Michael, who struggled with mental health issues and drug addiction. Michael also shot the girlfriend, who goes by the name Wendy, Mager said.

Hong called 911, Mager told Local 10.

“Robert was trying to help [Michael] overcome his battles, but obviously in the end, it was unsuccessful,” Mager told the South Florida Sun Sentinel.

Mager said Fenstersheib was a generous individual. “If you want to honor his legacy, you’ll do something nice for someone else. That’s what he would want,” he told the South Florida Sun Sentinel.

Among Fenstersheib’s survivors are his son, David, and his daughter, Stephanie, both lawyers at his law firm.
