Lawyers using the Harvey artificial intelligence platform will soon be able to tap into LexisNexis’ vast legal research capabilities.

Thanks to a new partnership announced Wednesday, Harvey users will be able to ask legal questions and receive fast, citation-backed answers powered by LexisNexis case law, statutes and Shepard’s Citations, streamlining everything from basic research to complex motions. According to a press release, generated responses to user queries will be grounded in LexisNexis’ proprietary knowledge graphs and citation tools—making them more trustworthy for use in court or client work.

“Our strategic alliance with Harvey reflects our commitment to deliver the highest quality answers and make legal work easier and more efficient,” said Sean Fitzpatrick, the CEO of LexisNexis North America, UK and Ireland in a statement. “We’re delighted to co-develop workflows with Harvey and bring the power of LexisNexis AI technology and authoritative legal content directly to Harvey customers.”

Harvey, which was created by Winston Weinberg, a junior associate at O’Melveny & Myers, and Gabe Pereyra, a former Google and Meta researcher, streamlines workflows in contract analysis, due diligence, compliance and litigation—and is utilized by law firms globally.

The alliance between the two companies will help deliver seamless access to custom workflows and citation-backed responses, said Weinberg, the CEO of Harvey, in a statement.

Harvey and LexisNexis also plan on creating legal workflows based on generative AI, which are expected to include motion to dismiss arguments and motion for summary judgment drafts.

The partnership is expected to be integrated by the end of the year.

“Today’s announcement is about meeting customers wherever they work and giving them the ability to receive trusted AI answers and conduct high-quality, advanced legal work,” Fitzpatrick says in an email. “Together, we’re creating a more seamless, trusted experience for our mutual customers, focused on delivering real value to legal professionals.”
