Twitter-savvy lawyers will have an official set of eyes and ears on the floor of the ABA’s House of Delegates Monday and Tuesday. Connecticut-based attorney Dan Schwartz has been tapped to report live on the reports presented, issues debated and resolutions passed, or passed-on, by the ABA’s policy-making body at the 2010 Annual Meeting.

Schwartz, who was the first representative to use his Twitter feed to report on the 561-member body’s debates live from the House floor, will tweet at the ABA’s official Twitter feed @ABAesq. Followers can also find the employment lawyer at @danielschwartz and @CTBar monikers, where he will add personal comments on issues, including a report that supports same-sex marriage – which is legal in Schwartz’s home state.

Twitter also provides a way for readers to get a glimpse of the House in action beyond the proposed resolutions.

“The great thing about being present on the floor of the House isn’t just the resolutions debated, but also listening to some great speakers and hearing what’s happening in the profession as a whole,” says Schwartz, who will also post pictures from the two-day session. “In the past, my tweets have been well received by people who are interested in hearing a different perspective on all of the House activities.”

For Schwartz, there is no doubt Twitter will continue to gain traction and encourage conversation – in 140 characters or less – in the legal community.

A recent Twitter post by @danielschwartz remarks: “How do I know Twitter is being adopted by lawyers? #abaannual hashtag is active! Contrast that with year ago.”
