A former Willkie Farr & Gallagher attorney who pleaded guilty to providing tips on deals in a massive insider trading ring has resigned as a lawyer, according to an order from the Appellate Division’s First Judicial Department of the New York Supreme Court.

The First Judicial Department said Thursday it had accepted Gabriel Gershowitz’s application to resign as an attorney.

The disbarment order is retroactive, effective from July 13, 2026, according to a story by Law.com.

“Respondent acknowledges that his resignation is freely and voluntarily rendered, without coercion or duress, and with full awareness of the consequences, including that the court’s acceptance and approval shall result in the entry of an order of disbarment striking his name from the roll of attorneys and counselors-at-law,” according to the order.

Gershowitz also previously worked at Weil, Gotshal & Mangers and DLA Piper, according to Law.com.
