After an inspector general’s report that castigates a New York state police forensic scientist for faulty work that went undetected by his supervisors over a 15-year period, some are questioning why this situation apparently hasn’t resulted in any overturned convictions.

“Unless they are saying that a man worked for the state police in a no-show job … then they should truly go back and examine all the cases in which he was involved,” executive director Jonathan Gradess of the state Defenders Association tells the New York Law Journal.

However, representatives of state police and state prosecutors say no wrongful convictions resulted.
