A former in-house lawyer for fashion company Louis Vuitton will get another chance to show that she was fired in retaliation for pursuing sexual harassment complaints against the company after a federal appeals court reversed a lower court’s dismissal of her case.

A panel from the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals at New York ruled Monday that Andowah Newton, who lost her job at Louis Vuitton in 2023, should be able to have her retaliation claim advance toward trial.

Newton had raised sexual harassment and assault claims internally and in a state-court lawsuit. Newton said after she declined to meet with a supervisor who wanted to discuss settling her claims, the fashion company restricted her ability to speak at conferences and then fired her.

Newton also claimed that Louis Vuitton retaliated against her by denying her a promotion opportunity, according to a story by Bloomberg Law.
