As U.S. soldiers are fighting in Iraq, one of the biggest risks they face is the so-called IEDs—improvised explosive devices—that serve as bombs there.

And many of the materials used to make them may have come from their own country, reports the Miami Herald.

Federal authorities announced today that more than a dozen individuals and entities have been indicted in Miami, charged with exporting “dual use” software and technology to Iran that was then used to manufacture IEDs used in Iraq against U.S. soldiers.

“No arrests are expected because the defendants are at large outside the United States,” the newspaper writes.
