Where Roebothan McKay Marshall stood on Friday is now a pile of rubble with a lovely view of the waterfront.

But the destruction of its offices in St. John’s, Newfoundland, over the weekend is an inconvenience rather than a tragedy, partner Steve Marshall tells the St. John’s Telegram in a written statement today.

No one was hurt, and the firm was able to retrieve its hard drive, so business will continue with minimal disruption, he says. “The fire will not hinder our ability to service current and future clients. Our firm’s present priority is and will continue to be providing the level of service our clients expect and deserve.”

An earlier Telegram article provides more information about the fire at the historic law firm, which was called in at around 7 a.m. Saturday. Later than morning, a brick wall of the building began to crack, and around noon, the roof started to cave in.

At that point, the building was demolished because of safety concerns.
